U.S. Marine Corps Gen. David H. Berger, the 38th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, commends outgoing commander Lt. Gen. Robert F. Hedelund during the Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic (FMFLANT), Marine Forces Command (MARFORCOM), Marine Forces Northern Command (MARFORNORTH) succession of command ceremony at Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Virginia, Oct. 25, 2021. Gen. Berger discussed the exemplary achievements and essential efforts Lt. Gen. Hedelund demonstrated while in position as acting commander. The acting commander of FMFLANT, MARFORCOM and MARFORNORTH is responsible for proper employment and support of Marine Corps Forces and executing developmental procedures to fulfill the Service-retained operating forces in support of the Combatant Commander.
